Les perturbations de ce remarquable syst\u00e8me peuvent entra\u00eener tant\u00f4t un d\u00e9faut de neutralisation du non-soi, tant\u00f4t un d\u00e9faut de reconnaissance du soi (maladies autoimmunes). Certes ! Mais alors comment le foetus (qui porte pour moiti\u00e9 des marqueurs cellulaires paternels, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire du non-soi) \u00e9chappe-t-il aux d\u00e9fenses de sa m\u00e8re ? Et qu\u2019en est-il de ces bact\u00e9ries qui nous habitent, dix \u00e0 cent fois plus nombreuses que nos cellules somatiques. Ces \u00ab \u00e9trang\u00e8res \u00bb sont absolument n\u00e9cessaires \u00e0 notre sant\u00e9 et elles pourraient m\u00eame influencer notre cerveau du fait de leur interaction avec le syst\u00e8me nerveux ent\u00e9rique.
