Adapt\u00e9 en 1973 par<br>Nicolas Roeg de la nouvelle \u00e9ponyme de Daphn\u00e9 du Maurier,<br>le film Don\u2019t look now contient \u2014 tout en traitant du surnaturel, du d\u00e9j\u00e0 vu, du traumatisme, du deuil et de la mort \u2014 la plus<br>belle sc\u00e8ne d\u2019amour jamais tourn\u00e9e au cin\u00e9ma.<br>Si Roeg choisit de montrer en ouverture une trag\u00e9die personnelle d\u2019une intensit\u00e9 rare \u2014 la petite fille de Laura et John<br>Baxter se noie accidentellement \u2014 le film atteint l\u2019universel en<br>figurant la perte et les tentatives path\u00e9tiques d\u2019une restauration<br>improbable. Celle-ci est m\u00e9taphoris\u00e9e par le m\u00e9tier de Baxter,<br>historien d\u2019art et restaurateur, appel\u00e9 \u00e0 intervenir sur le chantier d\u2019une \u00e9glise \u00e0 Venise. Des visions et des rencontres \u00e9tranges<br>ravivent chez le couple le souvenir de leur enfant disparue,<br>jusqu\u2019au cataclysme final.<br>La vision subtilement inqui\u00e9tante qu\u2019offre Roeg de Venise,<br>ville de la perte et de la m\u00e9lancolie par excellence, est doubl\u00e9e<br>d\u2019une conception sophistiqu\u00e9e du temps et de la narration qui<br>\u00e9volue, telle une partition musicale en un faisceau de th\u00e8mes et<br>d\u2019\u00e9v\u00e9nements surd\u00e9termin\u00e9s dont chacun devient la m\u00e9taphore<br>de l\u2019autre, l\u2019ensemble \u00e9tant ench\u00e2ss\u00e9 en une mise en abyme vertigineuse, le c\u0153ur du film \u00e9tant la sc\u00e8ne d\u2019amour entre Laura<br>et John Baxter.<br>Dans notre communication, nous explorerons le g\u00e9nie de<br>Roeg \u00e0 partir des interviews avec lui et, s\u00e9par\u00e9ment, de ses acteurs, Donald Sutherland et Julie Cristie, qui s\u2019expriment 40<br>quarante ans apr\u00e8s sur le tournage. C\u2019est dans le montage que<br>r\u00e9side la magie de cette sc\u00e8ne d\u2019amour, entrecoup\u00e9e savamment<br>par des sc\u00e8nes montrant les deux protagonistes seuls, se pr\u00e9parant pour un d\u00eener en ville.
