Cet extrait de la premi\u00e8re des quatre nouvelles, rassembl\u00e9es sous le titre L\u2019Embranchement de Mugby (1866), met en sc\u00e8ne un voyageur \u00e2g\u00e9, surnomm\u00e9 Barbox, descendu en pleine nuit sur le quai de cette gare de triage, renon\u00e7ant ainsi \u00e0 atteindre sa destination finale.
