Chef d\u2019\u0153uvre au c\u0153ur d\u2019un chef d\u2019\u0153uvre, cette s\u00e9quence, \u00e0 l\u2019instar du r\u00eave, condense la totalit\u00e9 du roman en un seul plan s\u00e9quence o\u00f9 le silence entre les protagonistes le dispute au sublime de l\u2019air de Haendel que chante un castrat en toile de fond de leurs pr\u00e9sences juxtapos\u00e9es.<br>En un ballet unique des regards entre Madame de Merteuil (Glenn Close), le vicomte de Valmont (John Malcovich) et la pr\u00e9sidente de Tourvel (Michelle Pfeiffer), se noue leur drame r\u00e9ciproque. \u00c0 l\u2019oppos\u00e9 des deux marionnettes de la perversion, notre h\u00e9ro\u00efne moderne jouit d\u2019une libert\u00e9 qui consiste non dans le choix de son destin, mais en une auto-destruction pleinement consentie.
