Tandis que Narcisse, alangui dans son paysage bucolique, nous convie \u00e0 l&rsquo;abandon paisible d&rsquo;une s\u00e9r\u00e9nit\u00e9 accomplie, la Gorgone tonitruante fait irruption, comme \u00e9vad\u00e9e d\u2019un enfer o\u00f9 elle s\u2019\u00e9vertuerait \u00e0 nous reconduire en sa hideuse compagnie ; l&rsquo;un se fait cajoleur et l\u00e9nifiant, pendant que l&rsquo;autre surgit, terrifiante et exterminatrice.<br>Cependant, ces deux effigies intrigantes exercent aussi, ensemble et complices, un magn\u00e9tisme irr\u00e9sistible qui semble venir puiser \u00e0 des origines ensorceleuses en partie communes. Certes, le p\u00e9ril s\u00e9ducteur appara\u00eet vari\u00e9 dans le style d\u2019accroche qui les anime. Elles convergent cependant dans la pr\u00e9cipitation catastrophique qu\u2019elles annoncent. Elles nous incitent ainsi \u00e0 les comprendre d\u2019une mani\u00e8re r\u00e9invent\u00e9e : non plus forces antagonistes r\u00e9v\u00e9latrices de vagues dangers composites, mais r\u00e9surgence, bifide et solidaire, d&rsquo;une menace l\u00e9tale unique, \u00e0 laquelle il convient d&rsquo;avoir le courage de se soustraire ou de vaillamment s&rsquo;affronter.
