L&rsquo;utilisation en est r\u00e9cente, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 employ\u00e9 pour la premi\u00e8re fois dans son sens actuel par Paul VALERY, au d\u00e9but du 20\u00ab si\u00e8cle dans un texte sur les douanes. Aujourd&rsquo;hui \u00e0 la mode, il qualifie ce qui est nouveau : soit en ce qu&rsquo;il modifie le mod\u00e8le du pass\u00e9, soit en ce qu&rsquo;il inaugure ou introduit de totalement nouveau. Alors y a-t-il ad\u00e9quation entre ces mots : enfant et modernit\u00e9 et l&rsquo;enfant de la modernit\u00e9 est-il un enfant nouveau ? Il y aurait donc contradiction entre ces deux th\u00e8mes : l&rsquo;enfant de la modernit\u00e9 et la permanence des th\u00e8mes dans l&rsquo;imaginaire de l&rsquo;enfant qui est notre propos aujourd&rsquo;hui. Il n&rsquo;y a pas. \u00e0 notre sens, contradiction. un enfant de n&rsquo;importe quelle \u00e9poque est. \u00e0 son \u00e9poque, un enfant de la modernit\u00e9.
